If you are thinking AVGnsx.exe is a malware, no, it is not. avgnsx.exe is part of AVG Internet Security & AVG antivirus software, free and paid versions often responsible for the functioning of AVG link scanner component. So, Often times if you are merely browsing a web page in internet explorer, firefox, the task becomes such cpu intensive that it brings pc down on its knees. Avgnsx.exe has been found to be big cpu hogger and consumes loads of network bandwidth.

How to get rid of avgnsx resource hogging?
Not a big deal, simply disable AVG link scanner in your antivirus settings. You would not need it much anyway.

In your AVG antivirus console, Go to Tools -> Advanced setting -> LinkScanner

Deactivate or uncheck "Enable AVG Search shield & Enable AVG active surf shield"




Once disabling, hit apply and ok and now you should see AVG LinkScanner disabled under Security Components & Status window.

That would be it....avgnsx would just sit quietly in task manager & would not dare hog cpu & internet bandwidth.

Although the above steps should resolve avgnsx issue, however, sometimes the cpu hogging stays. That might be because of avgrsx.exe which is AVG's real time scanner or avgnsx may occassionally crop up taking excess of cpu cycles, you may need to completely uninstall and reinstall your AVG software in that case.
