new antivirus generation?
I saw some publications about a new data gathering system in antiviruses, something like collective intelligence/reputation. Does anyone know what exactly it scans? what type of files? Is it only about files?
How is this info collected and when is it being sent?
Is there anything like that for organization's networks?

Thanks.

RE: new antivirus generation?
Most of the keyloggers and certain malware come with data collection abilities. Keyloggers normally keep a log of whatever you type out daily and keep sending data back home so they can figure out user ids and passwords and other identity sensitive information. Some malware keep a tab on what sites you visit and such things. When you say collective intelligence/reputation thing, what exactly are you referring to?

Hi,
I'm referring to information the antivirus software is collecting from the users' computers in order to decide of the 'reputation' of file, meaning whether it is good or bad.
anyone heard of that?

Even latest versions of Norton (like Norton 360) come with such abilities where the software checks a file based on feedback obtained from community users. This is a normal thing these days when the world is becoming more social!

No matter you visit websites or download files, an antivirus program is needed to keep computer safety. Keylogger normally keep a log of whatever you type out daily and keep sending data back home.

Collective Intelligence is Panda Security’s term for the servers that provides the anti-virus detection engines. As information is uploaded from the thin clients, it is analyzed and categorized by the Collective Intelligence technology.

new antivirus generation
I think that you are running some other antivirus in your system along with the BullGuard Antivirus and that is conflicting the processing of the BullGuard Antivirus and as a result of that the scan process become slow. It is recommended that you should never use more than one security software in your computer and if you do so then you will surely going to face the issues like this.
